TWISTING TIME TOWARDS TRANQUILITY

Wishing only to go up and hug my best friend,
For the gracious gratitude for all that he has done.
Yet our society grimaces upon me doing this so proudly,
I honor him as my brother, though distant as parted seas.

The fiery sun, brought cordial feelings to our minds,
Reminiscing merely the shared, pleasant moments of our lives.
As the fiery sun was conquered by the gathering gray clouds,
Our sudden feelings of warmth, turbulently transformed.

I gazed with immense admiration for how he protected me,
And all that he accomplished in his brief, but complete life.
I never had another friend become an integral part of me,
Nor has anyone come into his life as loyal and accepting.

Before I could rescue him, death came knocking upon his door,
Helpless were his weak and fragile body taken to disease.
Neither feelings of anxiety or tranquillity,
Came across his mind, body and spirit while I was with him.

As he tasted his last breathe and felt his final heart beat,
His fragile hands stretched towards me courageously.
Taking my warm hand, holding as tight as he possibly could,
Our faces, flooded with tears of numerous mixed emotions.

During his last hours, our glossy eyes stared at death directly,
Just waiting for it to finally arrive and not linger on any longer.
Then I felt his hand become cold and helpless, then vacated,
And without a word to me, his life succumbed and became part of me.

The instant down pour of tears shed by the dark heavens,
Left a cold, somber feeling inside of me knowing that he is forever gone.
Knowing that he has finally reached a world of tranquillity,
And leaving me all alone to survive and explore what he left behind.

As I parted his final resting place, all I can do is bow my head,
And mumble and whimper peacefully, "thank you for being my friend."
For the first time, leaving me isolated, standing all alone in the rain,
Only waiting to once again join him in laughter and not one of sorrow.
